dannylux - Bortkiewicz Etude in D Flat 15/8: Message Board

dannylux's Comments

This exquisite Etude (1911) by Sergei Bortkiewicz (1877 Ukraine - 1952) has everything one could want in a Russian Late-Romantic piece; two beautiful melodies, luscious harmonies, and a high degree of passion and sensuousness.

It's also a tremendous joy to play.

Julian (SlatterFan) 2011-08-21 06:47:21 A beautiful piece, beautifully played. I like how the shimmering accompaniment lines emerge from time to time into a kind of fast-flowing counter-melody, then fade back into being an accompaniment again. I just listened to your recording several times. Adding to my "in a few years' time" list, given its difficulty.
