SlatterFan - Fibich Images 41/11: Message Board

Zdeněk Fibich (1850-1900) was a Czech composer who wrote symphonies (I think the slow movement of the 2nd is heavenly), operas, chamber music, and numerous short pieces for solo piano. His Nálady, Dojmy a Upomínky (Images, Impressions and Souvenirs) for piano were often written in bursts and served as a kind of diary of his love for a former piano pupil who became his lover in the last 5 years of his life. The 41 images of his Op. 41 were composed in two such bursts in 1894, from late February to mid-March, and late September to early October. I have recorded a few of my favorites:11 Andante (G major)
20 Grave (G minor)
32 Allegretto giocoso (G major)
33 Con moto (C major)
