Tim Adrianson - Gould Guaracha: Message Board
Tim Adrianson's Comments
Morton Gould enjoyed quite a successful music career as president of ASCAP, and was typically sought after as a conductor and arranger. So, he wasn't particularly "unsung", but somehow his music, which IMO was positioned between American Popular and American Classic, never quite achieved the status that Copland, Schuman, Gershwin, or Bernstein's music did. "Guaracha" is Gould's piano reduction from the 3rd Movement of his "Latin American Symphonette", written in 1943. My copy shows a very young Morton Gould indeed, and the Price of the copy is listed as $0.60!Post your comments on Tim Adrianson's performance!
