Paul Bowles is better known as an author ("Under the Sheltering Sky") and poet who lived most of his later life in North Africa, but he also was an accomplished composer who wrote several sophisticated piano works, mostly in a French Neo-Classical style. These two short pieces, "El Bejuco" and "El Indio," were written in 1941, when Bowles was living in Mexico.
