A single voice in a simple two-note motif with tolling repeated notes, then another, and yet another, as in a fugue, to form a triad. A bass note anchors them and they float away in a long chain before coming to rest. Repeat in varied form three more times. That's all it takes...Post your comments on wr's performance!

I like the way the second variation seems to take flight for a moment, as if yearning for more of the Romantic, but the final variation pulls back into a reserved Baroque style. As always, beautifully played. |
