Tim Adrianson - Persichetti Fifth Piano Sonata Mv 1 37: Message Board
Tim Adrianson's Comments
Vincent Persichetti is not exactly an "Unsung Hero" -- he was a well-known teacher and composer, and wrote a seminal textbook on 20th Century composition; but, like most other American composers, his piano music is not performed much. This is the first of a set of four "Sonatas" that he wrote in the early '50s -- I put "Sonata" in quotation marks because they are much more like Sonatinas in feel -- light, piquant, freshly NeoClassical, with lots of harmonic and rhythmic surprises, but very charming, IMO.Post your comments on Tim Adrianson's performance!
