Sorcerer88 - Alkan Canon 65/3: Message Board

Sorcerer88's Comments

In this piece the two hands literally sing a canon, the left hand being one bar behind the right one. Even with this compositional constraint, it's a beautiful piece, but very difficult to perform, as one slip in dynamics or rythm drowns one of the voices.

This is an older recording (from my youtube channel), i hope i can replace it with a better one tomorrow morning after the deadline (as well as the Kapustin), the intro really isn't pretty.

heidiv 2010-08-22 13:01:26 I'm so glad you included this. It's a lovely canon, and you handle the voices with finesse!
Orange Soda King 2010-08-21 14:32:34 Great! Sadly, I'm not intimately familiar with all 30 Chants (and that's ironic because I have the complete set on my iPod). You play well! Keep up the great work and keep promoting Alkan.
wr 2010-08-21 03:04:22 Lovely piece. I have played through it several times in the past, but somehow missed some of the gorgeous harmonies your performance brings out. Thanks for uploading it.
gerg 2010-08-21 00:22:32 The opening and closing reminded me of a movement from a Beethoven Sonatas.

Some interesting chords featured in this piece. Very sweet and nostalgic, and lovely playing.
